DAY 5
Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) and Descent to Horombo Hut
Your summit adventure begins around midnight after a light snack and hot drinks. Equipped with warm clothing, headlamps, and determination, you will begin the challenging night ascent towards Gilman's Point (5,681m). The trail follows a steep and demanding path across rocky terrain and loose volcanic scree. Although this is one of the toughest sections of the entire Kilimanjaro climb, your experienced mountain guides will support and encourage you throughout the ascent.
As the first light of dawn appears over the African horizon, you will approach the crater rim and reach Gilman's Point. From here, you will continue along the crater rim towards Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. Standing beside the famous summit sign is an unforgettable achievement, offering spectacular views across the surrounding glaciers and vast African landscapes. Take photographs, celebrate your accomplishment, and enjoy this extraordinary moment at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, weather and conditions permitting.
After celebrating your summit success, you will begin the descent back to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut. The long descent can be demanding on your legs, but reaching Horombo Hut marks the end of an incredible summit day. Your mountain crew will welcome you with a warm meal, and you will enjoy a well-deserved rest after one of the most memorable experiences of your life.
