Day 1 · Friday, 11 December 2026

Marangu Gate (1,840m) – Mandara Hut (2,700m)

Your adventure begins with a drive to Marangu Gate, where you’ll register and meet your mountain crew. As you set foot on the trail, you’re immediately immersed in Kilimanjaro’s lush rainforest. Sunlight dances through the canopy, colobus monkeys leap between branches, and tropical birds provide a natural soundtrack. After about 4–5 hours of steady hiking, you’ll arrive at Mandara Hut, your cozy resting place for the night. In the late afternoon, you can take a short walk to Maundi Crater for sweeping views of Kenya and the surrounding plains.

Day 2 · Saturday, 12 December 2026

Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut (3,720m)

Leaving the rainforest behind, the landscape transforms into open moorland dotted with giant lobelias and everlasting flowers. The trail climbs gradually, revealing your first panoramic views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks — both standing proudly in the distance. The hike, lasting around 6–7 hours, brings you to Horombo Hut, perched on a ridge with breathtaking sunsets. Here you’ll enjoy a hearty meal, chat with fellow trekkers, and prepare for the more demanding days ahead.

Day 3 · Sunday, 13 December 2026

Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut (4,703m)

Today’s trek takes you through the surreal alpine desert — a silent, wind-swept world with sparse vegetation and wide-open vistas. The air becomes thinner, and the trail feels more remote. After 6–7 hours of walking, you’ll reach Kibo Hut at the foot of Kibo crater, your base camp for the summit push. An early dinner and an early bedtime are essential — the real challenge begins just after midnight.

Day 4 · Monday, 14 December 2026

Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Horombo Hut

Summit day! You’ll rise before midnight, equipped with headlamps and determination. The climb is slow and steady, zigzagging up the scree slopes to Gilman’s Point (5,681m), where the first rays of sunrise illuminate the horizon. From here, the journey continues along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak — the highest point in Africa. The sense of accomplishment as you stand at 5,895 meters is indescribable — the glaciers, the endless horizon, and the knowledge that you made it. After celebrating and taking your summit photos, you’ll descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest, then continue down to Horombo Hut for a well-earned night’s sleep.
